Tax and Accounting in Kazakhstan

Registering the company is only the start. Every month and quarter brings reporting, payroll and contributions, and mistakes lead to penalties that can reach your bank account and imports. BDK sets up the tax structure and accounting at the start and coordinates licensed accounting and audit partners from then on.

Who this is for

Newly registered foreign-owned companies

You need accounting and reporting in place quickly to avoid penalties in the first year.

Groups with a plant or branch in Kazakhstan

Local reporting has to match the parent's, and cross-border payments and permanent establishment questions need handling.

Companies changing accounting provider

Past records need a review to find and fix legacy problems.

Risks and decision points

A representative office doing business

A representative office that starts commercial activity can create a taxable permanent establishment. If you plan to sell, choose a branch or an LLP.

Late VAT registration

Missing VAT registration once the statutory conditions are met can lead to extra tax and penalties.

Cross-border payments

Paying service fees, royalties or interest abroad can trigger withholding tax obligations and questions of treaty relief.

Rules change

Tax rules are amended. Rates, deadlines and incentives follow the Tax Code in force and the tax authority's guidance; we track changes as part of the service.

Documents and information we will need

  • Company registration documents and ownership structure
  • Business description: sources of income, countries of customers and suppliers
  • Expected turnover and headcount
  • Contracts with the parent company and related parties
  • Past accounting records and filed returns, if any

Frequently asked questions

What are the corporate income tax and VAT rates in Kazakhstan?

We do not publish tax rates on the website: rates and incentives change, and which apply depends on your business and structure. At the proposal stage we calculate the main taxes for your project under the Tax Code in force, with the basis and the date.

Are you an accounting firm?

No. We handle the tax structure and coordination; day-to-day accounting is done by licensed accounting partners we select and supervise, and statutory audit by a licensed audit firm. You sign one contract and deal with one project manager.

When does reporting start after registration?

Reporting and payment obligations start with registration; the deadlines depend on the tax and the company. We set up the reporting calendar before registration is complete so nothing is missed.

Can you reduce our tax burden?

Within the law, by choosing the right structure and assessing incentives you can apply for. We do not offer aggressive avoidance schemes or “informal” fixes.
